Today during math we continued working on patterning. The students made patterns on their individual white boards and then partnered up and talked about the different patterns that were made. If you have time tonight show your child the 2 patterns below. Ask them if they are patterns and what the core is (the part of the pattern that repeats), to rename the pattern using letters of the alphabet and to tell you what comes next.

We have started our Word Wall program (check your child’s agenda and the blog) 5 words (I, can, see, like, play) were introduced today. Each week there will be 5 new words. A list of the words for the year was given out last Wednesday. On Monday the students will write the new words in their agenda. From Tuesday to Friday they will write the words in their word wall notebook. On Friday the words will be placed on the class word wall. By Friday each student should be able to read these words. Please have your child practice reading and printing these words at home each night (Perhaps on Monday night they can read the words to you on Tuesday night they could print the words and read them to you, on Wednesday night they could say each word in a sentence and on Thursday they could print them and read them). Many students will need extra printing practice at home so this would be a good chance to have them practice their printing skills.
