Great Day

A note came home today to update you on how your child is doing with reading the grade 1 word wall words. The note is in your child's agenda.

This week's word wall words are on the blog and in your child's agenda.

In math today we practised counting by 1s, 2s, and 5s to 60. The students also worked independently and surveyed 10 friends to find out their favourite ice cream flavour. They then used their results and made a pictograph. If you have time tonight please ask your child to look at the pictograph below and answer the following questions:

How many books were sold on Monday?  How many books were sold on Thursday? How many more books were sold on Wednesday than Tuesday?  How many books were sold all together?

In language today we chanted out this week's word wall words and then wrote a recount sentence in our journals. If you have time tonight please ask your child to read this week's word wall words to you and then to tell you a sentence using the word not.

In science we talked about how the seasons, the days of the week and day and night are considered cycles (meaning they happen over and over again/repeat). Ask your child if they can explain why the seasons or the days of the week are a cycle.

Have a great evening.
